It certainly isn’t very healthy to be a political backer for Barack Obama these days. Especially when he’s being tied in with racist churches and terrorist groups. And now taxpayer grants being awarded to his close allies.

As the American voters begin to get their facts about Barack Hussein Obama within the next few months. It may look to be very disastrous not only for Barack Obama but for the many of Barack Obama politicians that went and supported him over their constituents objections and their grave mistake in judgment.

As we have seen with Oprah Winfrey she has suffered a tremendous loss of viewers on her show when she publicly went for Barack Obama. She was just a talk show host, but how about some of these politicians representing voters that aren’t usually used to racist oriented supporters of politicians like Barack Obama?

Unfortunately for Barack Obama and most voters, mainly the white voters in America are just waking up and wondering out loud as to why he’s been associated with that racist church for so long. And these sleaze racist characters like Louis Farrakhan, and these pulpits anti-white spew hating pastors in the likes of Jeremiah Wright and Michael Pfleger for over twenty years?

SPRINGFIELD - Barack Obama has expressed pride in his ability to bring home old-fashioned pork.During his nearly eight years in Springfield, he tucked special earmarks into massive budget bills to shower small bequests on inner city schools, parks and youth service agencies.But some of the larger grants Obama sponsored were tied to political allies and show how difficult it is even for politicians advocating reform to avoid the appearance of favoritism as they dole out taxpayer funds. Several non-profit directors, for instance, gave money to Obama's campaigns soon after their allotments were awarded.

"My philosophy was that, if money was being distributed, then it would be inappropriate for me to not get my share for my district," Obama, now one of the U.S. Senate Democrats' leaders on ethics reform, said in an interview. "Did I think it was the best way to prioritize government spending? No."

The Tribune analyzed 119 grants in which Obama steered more than $6 million for Chicago projects between late 1999 and late 2002, the heart of his Statehouse career and the center of a state government frenzy in which Obama said the pork-barrel process was "wide open.

"Typical of his grants was the $5,000 Obama delivered to the South Shore Public Library for chess equipment, books and knitting supplies, or the $5,000 to help the Sir Miles Davis Academy plaster and paint walls and repair windows.But other grants reflected politics. In 2001, for example, Obama steered $75,000 to a South Side charity called FORUM Inc., which promised to help churches and community groups get wired to the Internet. Records show five FORUM employees, including one who had declared bankruptcy, had donated $1,000 apiece to Obama's state Senate campaign.

As the grant dollars were being disbursed to FORUM, the Illinois attorney general filed a civil lawsuit accusing the charity's founder of engaging in an unrelated kickback scheme. Just days after the suit was filed, Obama quietly returned the $5,000 in donations. "I didn't want to be associated with money that potentially might have been tainted," he said.FORUM founder Yesse Yehudah, who unsuccessfully ran for state Senate against Obama in 1998, denied wrongdoing and, without admitting guilt, settled the attorney general's lawsuit by paying $10,000 to a charity.

He declined to comment.Obama was not accused of wrongdoing, and he said none of his state grants came about as a quid pro quo."It happens that there were major supporters in my district who had been supporters before they got member initiatives,"

Pfleger said he made those donations personally, not on behalf of the church or to win grants."At a time when less people vote than ever, I don't think pastors should be silent on politics," Pfleger said.Another supporter, Henry English, made two donations to Obama totaling $900 in 2001 after Obama helped send a $50,000 grant to a non-profit group that English ran, the Black United Fund of Illinois.

English scoffed when asked if his donations were related to the grants."It's something that I did," he said. BUFI and Obama "have somewhat of a relationship. He is from down the street."Personal ties to Obama also were evident in some pork dispensed by his political allies.

The Chicago-based Muntu Dance Theatre received a $4.5 million grant to help pay for a $10 million cultural center.Obama's mentor in Springfield, state Sen. Emil Jones (D-Chicago), sponsored the grant. And at the time $2.25 million of the grant was disbursed, Obama's wife, Michelle, sat on the non-profit dance group's board.Obama said in the interview that at the time of the award in 2003 his wife wasn't a board member, though tax returns of the charity indicate she sat on the board in 2002 and 2003. Oh boy! I don’t know what to say other than I am mystified and shocked by the amount of hate emanating out from the Barack Obama campaign mainly from his church that he’s tied in with for over twenty-years!

When I thought that things were over with Barack Obama pastor problems, now this one really takes the cake.

This time we got a rogue Catholic priest named Michael Pfleger, a Chicago area activist/Catholic preacher spilling his venom from the same pulpit where Jeremiah Wright has done for almost thirty-years.

This time it’s a white guy preacher spilling his disdain towards the media, whites and attackers of both racist Jeremiah Wright and the other racist Jew hating Louis Farrakhan.

But last Sunday’s sermon was the final straw that some Americans may not swallow and take from these self proclaimed hate-mongers marauding around church pulpits.

Pastor Michael Pfleger went after a Hillary R. Clinton tirade. Demonizing her racially while the crowd was heard cheering him on like if it were a kill fest of some kind.

I’ll tell you folks! This is the final straw of tolerance that I can have for these Racists backed Barack Obama 2008 presidential campaign.

Race in America has been set back decades through this out of control Democratic presidential race. And these Obama sleazebag pastors are totally out of control!

They don’t think anything about the millions of Hillary Clinton supporters who voted for her.

A man that calls himself African American who condemned his white grand mother in favor for racist anti-white African American pastor Jeremiah Wright called his white grandmother racist and threw her under the bus month’s back, is now bringing his proud “white” roots into the military melee to make up for his lacking of it.

This guy Barack Obama is a real smooth operator; I think that singer and composer Jade had him in mind when she wrote her hit “Smooth Operator.”

Every one is making a mountain out of a mole hill on this Obama gaffe confusing Nazi death camps when in reality this man grew up in Chicago one of the most racially divided cities in America.

His twenty plus year’s attendance with Trinity United Church of Christ and its racist anti-white pastor Jeremiah Wright kind of took away or simply just forgotten Barack Obama’s “white” family roots.

But how convenient on this Memorial day, a day in honoring our military, our fallen heroes, a man known to be anti-military and has no military records jumped into the fray by reaching out to his somewhat forgotten “white” American family roots.

His great uncle that Barack Obama was talking about was Charles Payne presumably from his “white” mother’s end of the family.

Isn’t it convenient for Barack Obama to reach out to his “white” roots now when he’s being decimated at the ballot box by huge numbers of white voters?

For me it will take a whole lot more than reviving his white roots for me to pay him any mind.

Oh by the way if things couldn’t get any worse for Barack Obama? Alienating CNN’s Lou Dobbs might have been his worst blunder to date:

I can’t think of any worse gaffe for Barack Obama to worry about. Alienating CNN’s Lou Dobbs and his supporters the Lou Dobbs voters maybe the worst blunder he could have done. Lou Dobbs is very popular estimated million of viewers watch his show every night and most of his converts to his Independent Party are Democrats.

I consider my self among an estimated, not really known but possibly 300,000 to half a million of Lou Dobbs voters out there.

CNN’s Lou Dobbs last night on his show said he’s had it with Barack Obama’s with his constant attacks on Dobbs’ anti-illegal alien stances. Three times during his campaigning Barack Obama has slammed Dobbs over illegal aliens issue. You know that the Independents, mainly the throngs of Lou Dobbs voters aren’t going for Obama no matter what.

If you thought that it would take a new presidential elections to bring in desperately needed changes for America, you’re quite mistaken. It will take a whole lot more than that to reverse America’s economic and social decline.

Voting incumbents out of the United States congress and senate is the only way to go in cleaning up a messed up Washington American political structure.

True change for Americans means complete house cleaning, like ridding the states, U.S. senate and congress out the trash they’ve got now. And that means every one! All Democrats, Independents and Republicans!

Until that happens folks there will never be any kind of real change for Americans no matter who the president of the United States may be.

While most states around the union have enacted term limits through voters initiatives even our presidency is termed out after eight years but only our United States congress and senate refuse to vote themselves to be termed out.

The problems with America are these career politicians in both the U.S. congress and senate that will never go away in governing America no matter how badly they do it and they know it.

Are troubled times looming? There’s been a lot of talk about assassinations lately, mainly assassinating public leaders and including a presidential candidate.

It shows how America has become an angry and neglected nation from negligent and neglectful politicians and the chaos in social ills in this country is spiraling downwards and getting worse.

Never before has America had such chatter about political assassinations until recently it’s very troubling for us and our politicians in Washington are still not getting it. They have completely lost touch with the American people.

Unfortunately American politicians are what the voters make them out to be. A lot of American voters don’t do their homework when choosing a candidate. In fact a good portion of American voters likes to stick their heads in the sand and enclosing themselves into a world of sheer ignorance in political issues and their candidates.

In earlier times American schools had fair civic instructions and political educations that taught kids about our political structures in America. This is missing in the United States today. If it’s not entirely missing, then certain political groups and machines are exploiting it to their advantage.

I do not believe in political assassinations in any democratic society especially in ours, it’s morally and totally wrong.

However I do believe in political assassinations in dictatorship governments where the people are being oppressed like in Cuba, North Korea, China, Iran, Myanmar and Venezuela to name a few.

There is a big difference between oppressive and neglectful governments. Americans aren’t being oppressed but their elected politicians are neglecting them big time.

Somehow American politics has lost sight of its people and has become more of a corporate and special interests style of governance for the few rather than looking out for the American people at large.

American politicians today care more for illegal alien’s rights in keeping their jobs here rather than for Americans who are losing theirs at a higher rate. These same politicians care more for the financing industry that strangleholds Americans into more debts than saving them from these debts. They also care more for China’s industries and economy rather than our own.

What happening in America today is not totally the elected politicians fault, it’s the voters’ fault for not being totally informed about their candidates before election time.

Americans like to vote with their hearts rather than with their brains. They vote for whom they know, a name that they hear about and recognize rather than for the unknown.

This is the problem facing American elections today. Our political structure today is so heavily set up for the incumbency that new fresh politicians, new blood into American politics are being shut out. These incumbents know that Americans vote this way and it gives them no incentives to do better.

The city of San Francis a once one of America’s finest cities around has become most perverted and socially ill and decayed. It’s simply amazing to what lengths that city and some of its inhabitants will do to publicize, act, and pervert that city and themselves in public.

This is what the rest of America sees about San Francisco and there is no end in sight.

That’s why the rest of America has real apathy for that city and its inhabitants. It’s abnormal and sick behaviors that the rest of the country sees about the sickos in that city.

I really feel sorry for the few citizenries there who are horridly dismayed as to what that city has become! How much longer can they tolerate these kinds of behaviors folks?

How can anyone bring up children in this type of environment?

It just shows you the dangers in having liberals and leftists running any city and even the country. Moderates, conservatives and the right should be extremely alarmed and concerned about these kinds of unsavory behaviors allowed by out of control left wing politicians.

I urge all Americans around not to book any travel plans to that city and to keep that city economically depressed until some of its people begin to act like real human beings…

What used to be an American pride is now gone. Around the late 1920’s and early nineteen thirties America once proudly dominated in world steel production and constructions of high-rise buildings.

We subjugated the world in quality of steel that was produced up north and the Empire State Building completed in May of 1931 was the world’s tallest building and was the most solid ever built in its time.

The Empire State Building was the pride of America, built by U.S. steel and was an American gem at the time.

Our steel industry is now practically dead. We have forsaken our steel in favor to China’s cheaper and lower in quality that not only endangered their people’s lives through this tragic earthquake, but also could jeopardize and endanger American lives with their steel imports.

China now imports most of our steel being used in both private and public construction projects including bridges and bridge reinforcement and steel replacement parts.

News coming out of China is that they had numerous structural collapses behind their latest earthquake, and their shoddy steel and cement used in building constructions is being blamed for their tragic loss of lives.

Older buildings built in cities from Los Angeles to San Francisco California have survived numerous earthquakes through out the years. These buildings were built with American steel.

And again! Our government has allowed the systematic destruction of the American steel industry for the past decades in favoring Chinas’ cheaper, lower in quality and inferior steel imports.

As usual our government have been warned about the potential dangers to Americans in using lower grade Chinese steel and they are still ignoring the problem.

We’re left now to ponder and ask how many buildings, high rises, and bridges have been compromised and built using these Chinese inferior steel imports? Are we safe during a natural disaster?

New Threat from China: Shoddy Steel Imports
First it was food, then toys...Now, new concerns over Chinese imports have hit a pillar of the U.S. infrastructure.By Jim Ostroff September 7, 2007

Steel imports from China that fall apart easily are making U.S. manufacturers and constructions firms more than a little nervous. Reports of failures during initial fabrication and questions about certification documents will mean closer scrutiny. The American and Canadian institutes of steel construction have already advised member companies to be vigilant and report any problems.

The biggest concern is hollow structural sections widely used in construction of skyscrapers, bridges, pipelines, office, commercial and school buildings. This high-strength steel is also commonly used in power lifts, cranes, farm equipment, furniture and car trailer hitches.

Chinese high-strength steel tubes and pipes are also a potential problem. They’re used extensively in power plants and in large industrial boilers, and must withstand enormous pressures and hellish heat around the clock for weeks or months on end. This kind of steel also is used extensively in scaffolding that's erected on building exteriors during construction or renovation, as well as for interior work.

Inferior high-strength steel could cause catastrophic failures of buildings, pipelines or in power plants' boiler tubing. This is a large worry for structural engineers who will be working overtime as states embark on what amounts to a crash program to shore up bridges, following the collapse of the Minnesota span over the Mississippi River. China is already seeing problems. A Chinese power plant exploded recently when high-strength steel tubing blew out, says Roger Schagrin, general counsel for the Committee on Pipe and Tube Imports, which represents U.S. manufacturers of these products.

Dan Malone, construction manager for Garneau Manufacturing, based in Morinville, Alberta, Canada, an energy service company that works with many imports, said tests on a lot of 80 tons of Chinese steel tube products found "the welds failed horribly." Malone said there was no question that if the steel had been fabricated into a finished product and installed it would have failed and "would have killed somebody."

It's unlikely that existing buildings or bridges are in imminent danger of collapse. U.S. metals fabricators periodically test imported steels to assure they met specs for strength, hardness and durability. Construction firms generally do likewise. It is possible that some of the substandard Chinese high-strength steel did slip through, so expect construction companies to recheck with their suppliers to determine whether any of the steel they used was purchased from Chinese mills. If so, U.S. contractors, building owners and power plant operators will bring in structural engineers to test the steel. If any structurally deficient steel is found, companies will shore up pillars, girders and trusses or replace boiler pipes entirely.

Imports of specialized structural pipe and tubing steel from China are soaring, up from almost nothing two years ago to 102,000 metric tons in the first six months of this year, according to American Iron and Steel Institute data. China now provides about 25% of U.S. supplies of this high-strength steel, making it the second-largest source behind Canada. U.S. steel mills supply about 16%.

U.S. and Canadian manufacturers and steel wholesaler service centers started testing hollow structural steel and other high-strength Chinese steels a few months ago when suspicions arose over mass-produced documents certifying that the tubular products met strength standards of the ASTM International, a private group that sets standards for industrial and consumer goods. This reflects on the nature of Chinese companies hell-bent on jumping on the country's industrial boom bandwagon. "Most of China's 800-plus steelmakers are small fabricators who have no idea what quality is about, so there is a risk that some guy with a welding torch buys some hot-rolled coil steel and just welds it together," says Charles Bradford, president of Bradford Research, a metals consulting firm.

Imports of high-strength steel products from China are likely to plummet as result of concerns. Payday loans are financially killing people that use them, what was once affecting the poor it’s now hitting the middle class that are using them.

More Americans are being snarled into this financial addictive trap, just like addictions to Casino gambling.

Here is another prime example of our broken state and federal government at work against its people.

Payday loans are becoming more of a nightmare and prey on vulnerable financially at risk people throughout America. They are mostly unregulated and can charge unimaginable high interest rates and some even charge as high as a whopping 1000% interest!

What happened here? We once thought that loan sharking was illegal in America, the Feds through RICO would go after mob owned loan sharking enterprises. But now we have more of the same just because it’s being legally operated and the Gov get their cut of the money behind our sweat, with both state and federal governments blessings.

This is another prime example of our inept state and federal government at work with no end in sight. We’ve got a serious broken government issue at stake here from stringent bankruptcy laws, jobs leaving America, rampant illegal immigration and aliens, and unresolved housing crisis to high cost of oil. All of these combined are killing the American family.

When the Democrats took back power from the US Senate and Congress in 2006 nothing has changed nor improved for Americans since then, actually it got worse. The economic hardships for some American families have fallen deeper and have gotten worse. It seems that Republicans were to blame for most of these fiascos but Democrats have had sufficient time in office to turn things around but haven’t done so.

Financial institutional greed has taken over politicians’ actions and desires over Americans needs and protections.

The payday loan industry is so powerful that most articles on the Net are a spin on their usefulness for the consumer rather than the true opposite.

According to the Center of Responsible Lending studies, the real truths about Payday Loans and the damage they are doing to American consumers is insurmountable that just now the national media is starting to pay attention to this problem.

Predatory payday lending practices cost American families$4.2 billion annually.

Payday lending (sometimes called cash advance) is the practice of using a post-dated check or electronic checking account information as collateral for a short-term loan.
To qualify, borrowers need only personal identification, a checking account, and an income from a job or government benefits, like Social Security or disability payments.

Research shows that the payday lending business model is designed to keep borrowers in debt, not to provide one-time assistance during a time of financial need. According to CRL's research, borrowers who receive five or more loans a year account for 90 percent of the lenders’ business. But my current article isn’t about Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama, Dr Manning, race and Zimbio or myself. It’s about voter fraud in America. Its still happening and I may know why?

Believe it or not, voter fraud is still most common in the United States. A country that preaches to the world about democracy has never been able to put a lid on the problem.

I have been blogging and posting on the Net for about eleven months now. Back when I vented my suspicions about Barack Obama on my blog and Zimbio.com nobody paid much attention to me. It was mostly anti-Hillary R. Clinton stuff I was seeing and I was seen as ridicule picking on a promising presidential candidate.

Now I am a flabbergasted folk! Zimbio bloggers now dominate the anti-Obama postings here and I am speechless! I have nothing more to write about Barack Obama here people are doing it for me! Just awesome!

Zimbio bloggers and writers are the best around and believe me I read most of your political blogs. Zimbio is to the Net as sliced bread was for the consumer. Is Zimbio influential? I believe it is!

What I really love about Zimbio is that no one can hijack the site, and yes unlike they do with the Daily Kos and Digg Zimbio has the best group of writers never seen elsewhere.

When I did my Oprah Winfrey story about two weeks ago, where’s Oprah Winfrey? MIA with Barack Obama lately, is the Oprah Winfrey Show Reputation Damaged?
Newsweek and the LA Times capitalized on the Jeremiah Wright/Obama and Winfrey saga to my story. And the latest Reverend James David Manning attacks on Oprah were somewhat based behind my story on Oprah’s support for Barack Obama when white female fans of Oprah’s and mostly supporters of Hillary Clinton went bonkers over Oprah’s ill-advised support for a male like Obama. My angle was more gender based but Dr. Manning’s was more racial.

My current article isn’t about Oprah, Barack Obama, Dr. Manning, race and Zimbio or myself. It’s about voter fraud in America. Its still happening and I may know why?

If people have been following my articles on my blog and Zimbio. I have been documenting series on what I know through experiences in political corruption in America mainly my times with my former bosses Chinese family corruptive ties with former San Francisco mayor Willie L. Brown Jr.

On my last posting I wrote about Did Barack Obama Supporter & Gary Indiana Mayor Rudy Clay try to Steal Indiana From Hillary Rodham Clinton? Did he try to hand fraudulent votes?

Actually I want to delve more into the subject and add Chicago into the mix because it’s supposedly Barack Obama’s home turf. Voter fraud in Chicago and San Francisco isn’t much different except that the end results end up for fixed candidates.

The real root of the problem is that most cities like Chicago Illinois and San Francisco California have a strong mayor type system of government. A strong mayor government has the total control of every city department including the elections department. They can rig and control the hiring and placement of their polling places and workers and destroy actual balloting results when they want to.

However there are many cities and municipalities across America that are governed by city councils, supervisors and mayors with limited mayoral powers, and to my knowledge these cities have much less occurrences in voting frauds in comparison to their strong mayor counterparts.

Cities throughout America are always debating whether to change city charters through their electorates to rid themselves from these strong mayoral types of governments.

It’s without a doubt that strong mayoral cities besides Chicago and San Francisco, if we add New York, Los Angeles and Houston Texas into the mix they can create serious voter fraud in turning around local politics results in their favor while destroying national and actual presidential results for Americans.

“Municipalities’ elections in America are the cornerstones of true democracy if those are infringed through rigged elections then we have no democracy.”

Something happened back around 2000 in San Francisco California to change all of that. When Willie L. Brown Jr. the most corrupt mayor San Francisco has ever known, rigging city elections were commonplace with this mayor.

When ballot boxes filled with voter slips ended up in the San Francisco bay was the final straw that that city could take from this corrupt mayor. Curbing mayoral powers and city reforms were coming by the boatload!

Eventually, voters rebelled in 2000 with the election of a new crop of supervisors, most of who ran on an anti-Brown platform and vowed to lasso developers. Shortly afterward, voters approved measures that weakened the mayor's control over the city's major land-use panels: the Planning Commission and Board of Appeals.

"Mayor Brown's lasting legacy," Board of Supervisors President Matt Gonzalez once said, "is that the mayor's powers have been reined in.''

Then around 2002 the San Francisco city supervisors placed on the ballot an initiative removing the mayor from total control and access to the elections department and it passed by about 60% margin of the electorate. Since then San Francisco has never had voting problems and irregularities since the supervisors wrested control away from the mayor of their own city elections department.

Yes America is still a corrupt political system that perverts third world nations and the Federal government and our hapless sorry FBI can never get a handle on. During the last decade of constant San Francisco public corruption scandals the FBI have 0-no-none prosecution record!

The FBI and justice department used to be a proud American agencies; it’s now staffed with incompetent, idiotic morons that know nothing about investigating and prosecuting American crime.

Last night’s to what was thought, was a smooth running Indiana primary election were marred with accusations of inappropriateness especially when the vote count in Lake County Indiana weren’t made public but five hours later after the polls closed!

I have lived in San Francisco California under their former corrupt mayor Willie L. Brown Jr. And these types of shadiness and alterations of elections results were very common under this San Francisco mayor ship. It wasn’t surprising to me at all that Gary Indiana mayor Rudy Clay was attempting to pull a fraudulent vote a la Willie L. Brown Jr. on Hillary Rodham Clinton in favor of Barack Obama.

What Rudy Clay didn’t count on was that the whole world was watching and waiting for both CNN and Fox news for the elections results and were witnessing a sinister, corrupt action by a key mayor in Indiana’s second largest city, predominately African American city trying to pull another 2000 George Bush Florida on the voters.

Even Jeffrey Tobin a regular CNN contributor voiced his concern earlier about the possible corrupt way in Lake County holding up the vote counts from the public was pretty suspicious.

The heat was on Lake County so much that mayor Thomas McDermott of Hammond Indiana of Lake County had to drive to Chicago to be on CNN and try to explain to Wolf Blitzer and John King and the viewers as to what the heck was going on with his county?

And In Mayor McDermott’s own words he accused the fiasco as inappropriate and suspicious. It’s not the first time that Gary Indiana and Lake County have had these mishaps on elections.

What arises even more concerns is how the vote’s results came in. While most of Indiana had tallied most of their votes for the night, it wasn’t till 11PM that the first batch of Gary Indiana votes tally came in with 28% of the precincts counted showing Barack Obama with a whopping 75% margin! About forty minutes later another batch showed up and increased it to 56% of the tallied votes still showing Obama with a 75% edge over Hillary R. Clinton. She once had a formidable lead of 40,000 votes and it inched down to under 20,000 in a matter of an hour!

Finally just after Midnight all votes from Lake County were tallied and ended up an average of 55% in favor for Barack Obama but not enough to take Indiana from Hillary R. Clinton.

While CNN was covering the news over this fiasco, Fox news once again missed the boat on the topic. Eventually Gary Indiana mayor went on CNN by telephone and told Wolf and John and the viewers accusing the whole confusion on 11,000 absentee votes being slow to count. I have known thousands of cities in America that have way more absentee votes and they are counted in a timely manner.

This excuse wont wash and it was quite evident by the questionings and reactions from both Wolf Blitzer and John King when they drilled the mayor over this fiasco that they didn’t believe a word of what he was saying.

What makes it most suspicious about this whole sordid thing, Gary Indiana mayor Rudy Clay had promised the Washington Post days earlier that his city and county would deliver Indiana to Barack Obama.

If this is the kind of thing that we’re going to be seeing for a Barack Obama Democratic nomination and possible presidential elections. He’s no better than his supporters and talk is cheap Barack, this is not “change that we can believe in.”

Gary Mayor Predicts Possible Indiana Shocker
Updated 11:12 p.m.By Alec MacGillisAs the fate of a nailbiter Indiana primary -- and possibly the course of the Democratic race -- hung on his city, Gary Mayor Rudy Clay said just now that it might take a while yet to finish counting the vote in Lake County, which includes Gary, and said tonight his city had turned out so overwhelmingly for Barack Obama that it might just be enough to close the gap with Hillary Rodham Clinton.

"Let me tell you, when all the votes are counted, when Gary comes in, I think you're looking at something for the world to see," Clay, an Obama supporter, said in a telephone interview from Obama's Gary headquarters. "I don't know what the numbers are yet, but Gary has absolutely produced in large numbers for Obama here."

Clay said the results were late coming in from Lake County because of the large numbers of absentee ballots that had to be counted -- about 11,000. Under local practice, all of the cartridges from voting machines in Gary and nearby East Chicago are first collected at the local airport before being driven to the county headquarters to be tallied with the results from the rest of the county, he said. He said there were no major technical problems holding up the count.
"It takes a little time. We want to be sure that every vote is counted fair and right," he said. "I just talked to the director out there and they are working like junkyard dogs to get that done as soon as possible. They are taking some time but I told them to do it right. That's what taking the time."

Gary, a predominantly African-American, post-industrial city, is considered a major stronghold for the Illinois senator, whose South Side Chicago home is just a short drive across the border. Smaller towns within Lake County are expected to break in a more balanced way between Obama and Clinton. In 2004, 188,000 voters turned out in Lake County, with 61 percent voting for John Kerry. Clay predicted that Clinton would win other towns in the county by narrow margins but that Obama would rack up huge totals in Gary, where he said some precincts reported only a handful of votes for Clinton. So closely was he following the local vote counting that he did not even know how close the statewide vote had gotten -- a four percentage difference at 10:30.

In March, Clay predicted the race would come down to Gary, telling the Northwest Indiana and Illinois Times that tonight on CNN, "They are going to point at Indiana and say Hillary Clinton is leading by one point but Gary ain't come in yet."

Clay himself was deeply involved in get out the vote efforts this afternoon, going door to door to drum up anyone who hadn't yet voted, he said. A volunteer in the Obama office in Gary said that canvassers who went out today found that in some neighborhoods almost everyone reported having already cast an absentee ballot.

"It was one of the biggest get out the vote campaigns I've seen," Clay said. "It was the biggest get out the vote campaign ever in Gary for a presidential election."

What does the National Football League (NFL) and Major Baseball League (MLB) has to do with Marc Chamot’s political blog one might ask? The answer is very simple, a whole lot!

It’s about our economy and it can be a tell tale sign on how our economy, affordability and people’s spending patterns are being done within the world of sports.

And the new NFL season is entering into new economic hard times never seen before.

Going to professional sporting events are high-ticket items, it can be a luxurious expense that people can do without when they don’t have any extra money to spend. With the high cost of gas and food Americans in general are hurting.

The NFL is the most expensive and costliest sport in the world to keep and maintain. It’s the only sport on earth that keep an average roster of over fifty players and large coaching staffs around. The NFL must sustain higher crowds per game to make a profit and stay alive. Let’s forget the billion dollar TV contracts that the NFL has with TV Networks for a minute. The average price for Major League Baseball tickets today is $25.40 compared to the higher priced NFL average for tickets is $67.11. NFL tickets are almost two and half times more than baseball.

While baseball overhead costs is far cheaper than professional football even though their games stretch out far longer than the NFL’s, baseball can make it with smaller crowds through the stretch whereas the NFL cannot. It’s a whole lot easier to fill a baseball stadium with 10,000 to 17,000 a game than having to fill stadiums with 60,000 to 70,000 for every NFL Sunday to make ends meet.

It’s clear to see why MLB baseball is more economic proof than the NFL.

Back around 2001 when we had a slight recession because of 911. Major League Baseball maintained their prices but the NFL had to drop their prices. It’s looking like recession history may be repeating itself this year once again. According to Reuters “During the last recession in 2001, the average NFL ticket price fell 3.8 percent, while baseball's rose 4.9 percent, compared to a 12.1 percent increase the previous year, according to Team Marketing Report.”

I am not predicting the demise of the NFL because it will never happen. But I am predicting that the NFL bubble may soon burst just like the housing crisis did.

While I am still an avid fan of the NFL and football is my favorite sport. I have become embittered towards the greediness from both sides of the sport, the players and the ownership. The NFL isn’t like it used to be anymore. You now have to carry a roster list of the players every year to see who’s on the team playing.

The greediness of the new unproven NFL draft picks wanting millions of dollars to sign up with a team. Veterans moving from team to team, shopping around for better deals every year, has somehow lost the loyalty between the players and their fans.

That’s what’s missing in today’s NFL and MLB. Back around the seventies and early eighties that I remember most players would stay and retire with their teams. Most fans could easily name all of their team rosters/players of their favorite teams. That isn’t the case now.

A great movie around the early eighties called North Dallas Forty showed the realities of the NFL, the greed and the business aspects of the sport where it made the players not having fun playing the sport. I can still remember a famous line by O.W. from that movie "Every time I call it a game, you say it's a business. Every time I say it's a business, you call it a game!"

According to the 2007 data from Team Marketing Research’s annual Fan Cost Index, (spreadsheet attached here) the Baltimore Ravens increased the average price of a season ticket by 24.7 % to $77.20 (compared to Dallas’ 27.2 %). Making Baltimore’s jump all the more alarming was that the overall league average price rise was $4.50 (6.9%), meaning that on average, Ravens prices skyrocketed 3.5 times more than the NFL average. Other teams that leveled double digit increases on their fanatics are Tennessee (13.6%), Buffalo (12.5%), Miami and Pittsburgh (11.4 %), and Indianapolis and Arizona (10.5%). Only Indy, Baltimore, and Dallas have an average ticket price in the Top Half of the league. All the rest are still below the league average. Attendance soars even as economy sags

LOS ANGELES – Takashi Saito was on the mound, the fans inside Dodger Stadium were on their feet and, with the home team closing in on victory in the ninth inning, there was a quirky sight in the left-field bleachers.

A middle-aged woman wearing a Dodgers cap and an expression as unflinching as Saito’s reached into her canvas carryall and pulled out a tall kitchen plastic bag. Her timing was as impeccable as Saito’s last pitch.

Arizona’s Mark Reynolds struck out swinging, and before the crowd of 42,590 began filing out the stadium, Dawn Vieyra, aka “The Double Coupon Queen,” went to work scooping recyclables into the bag. Her postgame routine offered insight into the national economy, team loyalty and the financial health of professional sports in the face of a recession.

Gas prices are up. Food prices are up. So, oddly enough, is attendance at Major League Baseball games.

MLB officials say attendance is 2.6 percent ahead of record-breaking figures from last season, when the 30 teams raked in more than $6 billion. The NBA and the NFL also say they see no signs that the economy will cut into attendance or profits. Sports leagues bullish on fans despite economy

CHICAGO (Reuters) - U.S. sports executives are focusing on next week's NFL Super Bowl, baseball's spring training, basketball and hockey playoffs and expecting strong ticket sales despite a weakening economy and tighter spending by consumers.

"Vacations (and) travel are all things that people sacrifice," Major League Baseball President Bob DuPuy said in an interview. "Major consumer acquisitions are sacrificed during times of concern about the economy. But everybody needs to escape and sports are the ultimate escape because they are the ultimate reality show."

"It's not that we are not paying attention ... but our gauge of that is ticket sales and they have been robust," he said, adding the league is on track for record attendance in the coming season.

DuPuy said recession talk has not hurt interest in the Chicago Cubs baseball team, which along with its northside Chicago home Wrigley Field and other assets could attract bids topping $1 billion.

That popularity is reflected in ticket prices, which have steadily risen over the past few years.

The average ticket price for National Football League games rose 6.9 percent last year, while National Hockey League tickets for 2008 are up 7.7 percent, according to Team Marketing Report in Northbrook, Illinois. Baseball and National Basketball Association tickets increased 2.8 and 3.6 percent, respectively, in their most recent seasons.

During the last recession in 2001, the average NFL ticket price fell 3.8 percent, while baseball's rose 4.9 percent, compared to a 12.1 percent increase the previous year, according to Team Marketing Report.

Major League Baseball average ticket price rises 10.9 percent to $25.40 (AP)
It will cost a lot more to root, root, root for the home team this year. Major League Baseball’s average ticket price increased 10.9 percent this season to $25.40, the Team Marketing Report said Friday. That’s the steepest increase since a 12.9 rise in 2001. The World Series champion Red Sox, playing in the major leagues’ smallest ballpark, have the highest average at $48.80, up 10.1 percent.
